i dont know about u guys but i fucking hate linkin park. I even went to one of their concerts one time and it was horrible. if there is one thing i hate more thatn rap, it is a bunch of white boys who think they can rap. GOD THEY FUCKING SUCK!!! NO TALENT WHATSOEVER!

Now come on, isn't that a little bit of reverse prejudice there? I don't know anything about Linkin Park, except I've heard they purposely don't use a lot of language in their songs. Some white guys can rap. At least one or two of the members of Control Machete, a rap group from Mexico, the singers, are 'white.' They're extremely popular in Mexico, fairly popular in the US, and Cypress Hill invited one of their singers to work with them on a song. I think they're pretty fucking good.

Oddly enough, most bands aren't trying to push an agenda. There may be people that are actually apolitical, and are only interested in making music.... odd, I know, but they are out there...

It has become "cool" amongst the quasi-intelligentsia to downplay bands like Linkin Park. They have various reasons, but it usually comes back to "No talent white boys trying to rap".

Which is an inherently racist statement. It would be like me thinking that all my black friends are good singers and good at basketball. It's the same thinking, from a different angle.

And, a multi-platinum album always seems to say that they are getting to someone.... unless people are so disgusted with them they are trying to kill them by choking them with money.

Personally, I'm not into nu-metal so much, but Linkin Park are OK. I got really excited when they first came out like 18 months and bought their album etc etc but now it sounds a bit dull and uninspiring. Apparently they're good live though.

Personally, I dislike them but they are not completly talentless and I agree they are just singing for the money, but so are most bands! What makes them anymore bad then say, Westlife or someone.

I don't think their skin color matters . . . they would suck no matter what. I also don't mind that they don't sing protest songs. What does get me about them, however, is that they can't play their instruments and there is no emotional range in their songs.

By the way, Linkin Park does not rap. They scream.

Oddly enough, for some reason it seems to sound much better when they play their instruments (or mix, in the DJ's case) than when I touch a guitar or mixing board.

Wow, at first I was like, well I kinda like Linkin Park. But then I heard the excellent counter argument of "they suck" and "they're just a bunch of white boys who think they can rap" and "they can't play instruments" and I was like, damn, they are white, and other people like them besides me and those instruments I saw them playing live must be fake or something; so I came to the conclusion that they do suck. Thanks for swaying my opinion.

lol, you guys are funny. I personally don't like linkin park, but I did listen to them alot when I went through my "fuck you ***** for not liking me" phase (about a year ago). well, now that I'm alot more emotionally stable, I actually have a life, I enjoy my life, I have respect for women, I'm politically active and not a selfish brat who thinks the world revolves around him, well now I don't listen to that at all.

What I'm trying to get at is that it's good when I'm in a "hermit mood". When I feel I want to lock the whole world away. I listened to them a couple of times last month after getting kicked out of school for smoking weed, but I've since been able to stop my decline into stupid self-pity. Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Weezer, that's music. And I don't really care if they're political or not, just that I don't get any feeling from them. Same applies to POD, even though they ARE political.

well...i didn't read all of the replys, but i'll ramble a bit anyway.

I don't like Linkin Park...I'm going to try to explain why.
First of all the music is way to pop influenzed. If you were to tell me that they are a "heavy" band in any way I'd have to laugh in your face. They are not, they are extremely soft. They are like the blink182 or sum41 equivalent of "nu-metal".
Besides just sounding soft, the band isn't very innovative nor creative, wich could make up for the lack of energy. Also the rapper in the band is really bad...and I'm somebody who actually doesn't mind rap.
And i don't give a shit about what skin-colour they are...there are enough white rappers who can rap, but this one is just BAD.
Also i can't stand their lyrics. You can summarize about all of their songs with one word. "whine". or maybe also "*****". whine, whine, ***** ***** *****. it's boring.

I listen to plenty non-political bands that still manage to have something to say besides "my parents don't like me.....boohoo".

Yes! This other band, what was it? Oh, yes, Crazy Town. One of the singers look exactly the same as one of linkin park's "singers", and it even sounds the same.

I think they have a machine (as in Eminem's "the real slim shady" or whateverthefuck it was, in that video anyways) they just keep coming from a assembly line, the song writers create another hit single and there you have it.

I think a lot of the people here are incredibly dumb in their blind hatred towards Linkin Park... I might of course be wrong, but I would guess that most of us couldn't do better than them. So I guess they must be good at something...
