Amazing they could use NATO weapons in such primitive conditions since they are so much more temperamental then Russian weapons, that brings a question since their revolution started when the U.S.S.R still existed why didn't the U.S.S.R throw weapons at the Bougainville Revolutionary Army? RPGs take down helicopters far better then cross bows and the Russian 9K38 LGLA man-portable laser guided missiles would have allowed the Bougainville Revolutionary Army shoot down helicopters with ease. Even if the U.S.S.R gave a few arms to the Bougainville Revolutionary Army covertly for a few months it would have made a huge impact.

I'm guessing the U.S.S.R didn't feel it was their place to bud in.
