there are too many really, but the one that has to been mentioned is of course:
The Big Lebowski
Fires of History
28th April 2002, 22:03
There are simply TOO MANY to even possibly name. I agree with most of the ones mentioned so far.
But, for the love of all that is good, please -please- tell me that someone here has seen Baraka!
If you haven't seen Baraka, do not pass go, do not collect $200, and go directly to your local video store and rent it today.
Baraka is a non-verbal documentation of the human condition. It will make you cry, and of course want to kill the next capie you see. And it has THE MOST BEAUTIFUL soundtrack of any movie I've ever seen.
GO SEE BARAKA! You will NOT regret it :)

maaja: amores peros (love is a *****) is fucking great, love that one. I saw Y Tu Mama Tambien 5 times in the movies as well, awesome movie! one of the things i liked about that one was that it didnt portray sex in the usual super-glamorous-everything works out fashion that movies tend to do.
La Rainbeaux:
a bronx tale kicks ass! i always get a tear or two when C says "waste of talent" to sonny at the end. and i cant believe that somebody beyond myself has seen mi familia. that was a movie my whole family would watch together when i was a little kid. lol.
and requiem for a dream people, what the hell is that movie about? it appears on a lot of peoples best movies list, but i dont even know what its about, only that its directed by the same guy that did Pi.

It's the darkest and most depressing film you'll ever see. Essentially it's about four people's struggle against all the odds to realise their desires, and ultimately, each one fails (well, OK, one kinda succeeds, but at a high price). It was the first film to make me cry, predominantly cos it felt so real.

Um, no. Oliver Stone is a moralizer, as opposed to Spike Lee and Kubrick, who are moralists.
Izm - I am fucking glad to see that you appreciate the greatest Japanese directork, and one of the best of the world, who is Akira Kurowsowal; and I recommend Sanjuro, which is a companion piece to Yojimbo, and Ran, which is one of the most complex movies I have ever seen.
I still need to see of his, Shadow Warrior, High and Low, and about two others whose names I do not remember.

DAmn, I forgot about two movies
the 15 minutes "Derrick vs Superman", a thing made by connecting re-dubbed (in French) parts of various series made to fit together as a .. well.. coherent but absurd story
and "la classe americaine", aka "le garand detournement" which is a parody of citizen kane built on the same principles .. (never saw so many stars in a single movie :D)
French speaking guys should find that stuff on edonkey or on IRC ...
