Yeah man, fuck the system....
Face it dudes and dudettes, if there was a democractic communist system, there would still be anti-authority punk bands. No type of music represents a political system, you silly person...

I've seen too many Skinheads at punk concerts to think it's just about 'Communism.'

What's wrong with skinheads? the majority aren't the nazis that people perceive them as. learn some history before you start saying that skins eliminate communism from punk. unless you mean they just look tough, in which case i agree but see nothing wrong with it.

and as for the point of this topic, I think that the punk movement can be interpreted as communist, but i don't think that that's the point of punk. I enjoy punk for the politics that the lyrics can convey, but i don't necessarily believe that there's a particular leftist ideology that can go along with punk's pure existence.

I'm talking about the Skinheads in swastika regalia I see at every punk concert I go to.
SHARP seems like a neat group. I am glad they are trying to make skin-headedness a socially acceptable thing. But that doesn't change the fact that many Skinheads are in fact Neo-Nazis. In fact, by it's very founding and message, SHARP seems to acknowledge that fact.
Surely you know Skinheads that are Neo-Nazis? Most of the Skinheads I know are, as are the one's I see at punk concerts.
I agree that punk has an anti-establishment message, and that is partly why I like some of it, but to label it the 'music of Communism' is...lol...just absurd.
Skin heads do not have a Nazi base, but on the other hand skin heads have a socialist one.
Nazi skins are a miss interpretation of the skin head movement.
Skinheads supported workers during the 60´s i believe (but im probably wrong)
so this time, inform yourself in depth (thing you regularly do and that is a reason cause i admire you)before answering.

you think punk is fascist and attracts neo-nazis?

There is a fairly large rascist music movement that tailors itself around punk. I don't think punk attracts rascists, but it is undeniable that these rascist bands are using punk-like music to try and attract future neo-nazis.

I offer for you an example.
Propaghandi, probably my favorite punk band, wrote "Ska Sucks" because they were tried of all the racist Skins that would come to their shows. And this song was meant to piss them off from what I've read.
I don't care what the 'skinhead movement' was supposed to be, the fact is that every Skinhead I know is a Neo-Nazi. And they flood the punk shows I go to. That's all I was trying to say.
Even Propaghandi can see this...can't you?

well, this might get to be too semantic, but nazi boneheads (the SHARP/trad name for nazi "skins") essetianlly betray the multiracial roots of the culture and thus can't be considered a true representation of it. also, the amount of nazis at a given show is really a regional issue. here in new england, there are a lot of skins at shows, but I've never seen more than 6 people I suspect to be nazis at shows, and I've only been sure of 2 of those. But it's worse elsewhere.

I don't see how you can say a type of music is officially communist, because although almost all punk bands are politically driven, most of the neo-nazi hate music is punk and now pop punk is getting big (if you can call it punk i.e. Blink 182, Sum 41). Plus almost all of the political punk bands are anarchist.

There is also a skinhead group called RASH (Red & Anarchist Skinheads) that some of my friends are a part of. They aren't apolitical (obviously) and are more millitant than SHARP.
There actually are many different kinds of skinheads, there is the rudeboys (original skinheads from Jamaica), tradskins, sXe skins, ranger skins, etc.

I guess that punk is Communist music to a degree.
Other stuff like Rock and Glam can also reflect this too.
(IE. RATM )
I have written a certain number of Pro-communist punk songs with titles such as "Red Star" and "Kapitaal"

Im reviving an old thread, but FOH - most people with proffesional mohawks or liberty spikes use hair cement - which DOES NOT come off.. meaning you have to shave your head when you wanna change your hair style. So, most punks with spikes or hawks eventually turn skin heads for a period of time because they have to. And i have been to hundreds of punk shows, and i see skins at everyone, but i rarely see nazis there. Not many punk bands (that i go see) support nazis and usually outright make fun of them.

Punk is very rebelious but they don't always suport comunism they're more anarquists than anything.

Punk is a term coined for people who look rebellious. I have seen rebellious people who look like they just walked out of gap, and i've seem silent american sheep all punked out. There are communist/socialist punks, anarchist punks (a slight majority), and there are the minority nazi skins. Most punks are somewhat politcally involved and i've been seeing a large amount of leftist punks in the pasts months/years.

most ppl who say they are punks dont even know what communism is, they say their anarchist just cuz everyone else its cool. i dont like anarchy, but of course i am not a punk.

Your probably talking about the "new" punks. We are obviously talking about two different groups of people. Almost all "old school" punks are political even though alot are anarchists.
And you don't have to be a punk to like anarchy
And you don't have to like anarchy to be a punk

First of all I doubt marx, lenin, engles or anyone else essential to the birth of communism ever heard of punk
second what ever kinda music you feel represents what you want it to

Most is anarchist but in case you didn't notice the final goal of communism is communist anarchy. P.S. anarchy isn't fascism.

PUnk music has a leftist history too it. Many of the punks were rebelling against the conservative society of britian. Punk's philosophy seems to be pretty leftist to me although definitely most punks aren't communists.
