Hey, im new to Revleft and have considered myself a Communist for a few years now and have considered joining my national Communist party but first off I just have to say Im a bit of an anti-feminist (im not a chauvinist or anything I just disagree with with most feminists). I guess I just wanted to know if someone who is anti-feminist would be accepted into a Communist community. Thank you for reading my post I await your replies.

I think you need to explain more about why you perceive yourself to be anti-feminist

Seriously, please explain about your anti-feminism. There must be female liberation in order to reach communism.

Hi, I don't want to pace you but what do you suggest instead of feminism?
It is a fact that women are discriminated in many ways in our society and it's the goal of communism to achieve that everybody is equal, so we can't tolerate discrimination of women.
And ... are you sure that the "feminists" you talked to were reasonable "real" feminists and not just some lunatic "kill all men!"-weirdos?

No you don't have to be a feminist, as long as you support the liberation of women as part of the overall fight for human equality.
And don't worry your certainly not the only one on here who doesn't agree with feminism or other forms of liberal identity politics.
There are true communists rejecting feminism as a modern day trend, that offers something, so if you reject "feminism" for such a reasons its not something to hold you outside "communist community" however when saying you "reject what most feminists have to say" what do you mean? You reject the fight of having both genders equal? You reject that females are more discriminate?Explain please your differ from feminists and feminism itself.

There's liberal feminism, Marxist feminism and radical feminism. Have you read any Marxist feminism?
apathy maybe

I too used to reject "feminism". But that was because I misunderstood what it actually was, and what it entailed.
Feminism isn't calling for women to be treated as special, or anything like that. It is calling for equality. Something, that as a "communist", you should be supportive of.
There are some people who call themselves feminists who are basically female separatists or similar, they aren't really feminists.
Also, have a look at the following threads:
http://www.revleft.com/vb/humanistic-feminism-t43472/index.html
http://www.revleft.com/vb/feminism-need-help-t44957/index.html
I love this quote from the first thread:
Sexism is any discrimination based on sex.
Feminism is the fight against the sexism that currently pervades society.
Any anarchist/communist/socialist movement must include sexual liberation or else it isnt really fighting discrimination.
end of story

yeah militant feminism; the removal of women or being placed above men in society, is probably what you are thinking of. i met a few, they were nice people, but they made me feel uncomfortable.

Of course I believe in human equality but I feel that men aren't the only ones being sexist! Infact in Canada (the country I live in) young men have to pay MUCH more for their car insurance than women because young men are considered hotshot drivers! Yet if this happend against women we would be called "chauvinist sexist pigs". At my school their are clubs for young women only... but they other day I found out they don't have any boys only clubs (they used to but they got rid of them because they were being "selective" and "sexist" or some c*ap like that). At school they always talk about how women are being forced into traditional roles and such but constantly I as a man am being forced into traditional roles for men! In my house my sister doesnt have to do any heavy lifting or traditional "man work" because im "naturally stronger" yet I have to do all the traditional womens roles around the house like cleaning and cooking! I mean I dont believe in traditional roles but why are men still stuck in their traditional roles? why are there organizations for the benefit of women but not any for the benefit of men only! I think sometimes feminist organizations do lawsuits and such just to prove a point like when the feminists in Canada sued the goverment for the right to walk the streets with no shirts on (because men can). And on t.v (especially sitcoms) men are being showed as fearful of their wives! Plus there definently is a feminist bias in divorce courts! The mother almost always gets the children! Im sorry that this post is poorly written and has grammar punctuation and spelling errors but I wrote in a hurry :blushing: I hope I got the point across...

Some of the stuff there is anti-male sexism, yes I agree. Some of it I think you may be a bit confused about too (like why do people get this idea in thier head that a nipple is only scary if there's glands behind it?).
What I'm understanding though is that you're concerned that there is not equality between the genders? I'd suggest you take a read of the posts above, stick around and while keeping in mind the stuff you've already said, consider whether if possibly some of what you've just said (not all, don't get me wrong) may be blowing out of proportion a bit. The majority of that is about a failure in gender equality, which is most certainly not anti-feminism... unless Germaine Greer is lurking on these forums.:p
A desire for full equality is what's important and yeah, I guess that goes two ways. :)

Sorry I made this thread a while ago and after talking to some feminists in my school I have changed my stance on feminism. The so called "Feminists" I was refering to were Anti-men as opposed to pro equality. It would be greatly appreciated if a moderator could delete this thread as it was just me Inquiring into an area I didnt understand. :)

I have changed my stance on feminism
Having read your last post before this one, thank God.
Seriously, try not to get your opinions of things from sensationalistic media crap. You did the right thing talking to some real feminists.
"Great news", at last you got it well in your mind. :)
