Mostly directed at people from the UK who have seen the constant ads people are bombarded with.

What do you make of the stereotypical image of the characters, settings etc used in the ads

Also here's my own remake of what that ad should be :p

Classist nonsense of course. The worst benefit fraudsters tend to be middle-aged couples with lots of money in the first place, such as this pair (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/7955265.stm).

Oh look, a politician got caught with his hands in the jar (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2007/sep/04/eu.ukcrime). Tut tut.

Another one?! (http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:YDaEStEHWHUJ:www.ealinggazette.co.u k/ealing-news/local-ealing-news/2009/03/13/benefit-fraud-councillor-spared-jail-64767-23139678/+Benefit+fraud&cd=31&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk)

Are all politicians this bent? (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/benefit-fraud-mayor-spotted-as-ref-813033.html)

I actualy had my benefits cut off at one point for failing to declare my voluntary work. They even threatened to take me to court for it. Despite me not actualy getting any money from the voluntary work.
Totaly severed my income for 3 weeks, none of which I was allowed to backdate! :cursing:
It was actualy foudn recently that goverment propaganda is the biggest funder to advertising in the UK now. If you're not bieng harrased to give up smoking, you're bieng threatened with jail for benefits. Totaly saturated everywhere you go with how Gordon Brown wants you to behave.

I don't live in Britain so have never heard of this.

Just watched their youtube video...love how they proudly proclaim use of hidden cameras on private citizens and encourage neighbors to spy on eachother. :cursing:

They've been encouraging this kind of tactic recently. For example, it's now a criminal offence to fail to report somebody breaking the smoking ban! We're now unpaid police officers it seems! :cursing:

housing benefit fraud

local authroities make mistakes all the time and overpay claimants - they are conducting a campaign which is disinformation. They say they are catching benefit fraudsters but the fact is that people have to endure an interview under caution which usually frightens them into pleading guilty in the magistates court[not the most sympathetic court..] whereas those who opt for a crown court trial usually walk because the so called "fraud" may be about local authority bureacracy incompetence. Therefore the figures are not reflecting that they are catching benefit "fraudsters" and many innocent poor peoplel are ending up with criminal records... really cynical - all this benefits fraud stuff is nonsense - the really big fraudsters rarely get caught..
Its an attempt to demonise poor people .

Housing benefit overpayments. Been stung by that one too. I had a council tax bill the other week for my last home and it had £200 bolted on for "benefit overpayment". Considering that I was living in a 1 bedroom house in a poor area of my town and only given half of my rent from housing, I'm sure they're wrong, so I'm looking at how I can challenge them on this.

You should see the calculation of benefit letters they send = incomprehensible - this is why people don’t question the calculation and also because they rely on their benefit.. I could talk about this for ever - it is all an exercise to placate the bourgeoisie who have small businesses and are "appalled" by benefit fraud- same people who are responsible for redundancies and the need for some workers to claim benefit - makes me fucking sick.. and enraged
