Recent headlines include the potential for nations to militarize and develop nuclear weapons. I've already seen the morale arguments for the Russian rearmament plan, and don't want to appear redundant, but I was wondering what the general consensus for the steps being made by these nations is.
Are these simply countries looking to modernize (Russian army, Korean satellite) and seek alternative energy sources (Iranian nuclear program), or is the stage being set for another large-scale conflict? A failing world economy coupled with potential for growing aggression could get the proverbial trigger to finger to twitch, and I'm interested to see what you think.
Side note: I originally had links posted at the top referring to three articles off of BBC News, but as I am a long-time lurker I do not have sufficient posts to provide links. I apologize for the incononvenience.
