I would first like to point out the strangeness of being both rabidly Christian, and fervently Marxist; I know this is oft frowned upon, but think that if you give me a shot to defend my beliefs, I may sway you.

But enough of that, I am a young man, Worker by birth, Christian by family, and Marxist by choice.

I am from Canada, Ontario to be exact, and myself see Canada to be like the Russia of the early 20th century; in many ways lagging behind other nations, but well positioned to be the next great Communist power.

Welcome :)

How are your views on organised religion? Do you recognise it's intolerant and reactionary stances? If not, why not?

but think that if you give me a shot to defend my beliefs, I may sway you.
the swaying part, to the religion subforum (http://www.revleft.com/vb/religion-f38/index.html) preaching is not permited on the forum. and this rule is strongly enforced.

Oh, I don't plan on preaching, not by a long shot; I of all people know of how vile intolerance can be.

On the question of religious organizations, I am totally against them; They seek only to dominate and destroy any opposing views, which they view as anything besides their own, in order to instill their incredibly misguided views and enslave all 'blasphemers.'

My beliefs can be summed up by saying that organized religion has destroyed and bastardized the true message that was meant, that being a message of equality, and basic humanism towards our fellow man; in short, that he was years ahead of his time, and as much of an inspiration and powerful figure as Marx himself.

Pretty clear answers. Thank you :)

I respect your positions on religion, I've got no problem spirituality or Christianity so long as it isn't a method of social domination.

And welcome to Revleft! :D

Welcome. :)

A religious Commie, eh? That sounds interesting. One warning though as others have mentioned: preaching isn't allowed here.

Welcome to the RevLeft forums. I'm assuming, from your strategically chosen name that you hope to make religion a common discussion with between you and others, but if this is not the case, I'm sorry for continuing to mention the subject.
I appreciate what you have said and I have basically used the same argument for the lessons of Jesus of Nazareth being misused by religious organizations, despite the fact that I am a strongly set atheist.

I'm not religious, to say the least, but welcome.
I'm also in Ontario. Mississauga, to be more precise.
