Speaking of which, I feel embarassed and insulted whenever I visit first team matches. Whenever they play, there are hardly any fans watching! :( Even in this weekend of international football, when FC Groningen don't play, when there is no pro football on tv, or whatever dumb excuses people may think of, there were still only 150 people in the stands today! It's pathetic!
The match wasn't great, sure, but you've got to support your locals!

 Yep, that's the one, and bringing in Gullit wasn't even his worst decision with LA. To make a long story short, when he came to the Galaxy they were a reasonably good side, by the time he got fired they had turned into a complete and utter disaster (or joke, depending on how you look at it). The stupidity and incompetence of Alexi Lalas is truly legendary.

Well us Galaxy supporters can tell you just what is wrong with him. He is a self obsessed, ego-maniac and a dick. ;)
We shelled out a good amount of money for him to see him rot on the bench for a year and then play one mediocre season to see him go behind our coaches back at the end of said season. Before the season was over he had already made plans with AC Milan for a loan. At the end of the season he let's his players and coach know about it and like fools we obliged his wish.
He goes abroad and then we hear this asshole talking shit about our club and how he doesn't want to come back. If you want to go then go but show some class. Fuck that guy.
Unfortunately a deal was made where he will come back to LA after the season with Milan ends. Even then he will be away a lot with England's National Team. I really can't wait for his first game back here though we are going to give him hell. Things are in the works for effigies and some more personal things.

To be fair you have to ask why Galaxy shelled out so much more for a player who was so obviously past his best.
He is a self obsessed, ego-maniac and a dick.
To be honest, I thought that is why they did shell out the money for him. It certainly wasn't for the football.
They wanted someone to provide image.

Yep... well him and Beckham put that together as far as I know. Alexi Lalas is responsible for bringing the Beckham circus to town and ruining our team.
It's ok though because I think we are going to do good this season. Beckham comes back in July and that's what I dread because I hope our coach has the balls to bench him if he isn't giving 100%. Actually I hope he is benched either way to mess up his form for World Cup Qualifying. :)

Oh I know it was all a stunt for attention. It did help the MLS and Galaxy get attention and it worked pretty well at that. As a fan though it sucks. It especially sucks though that he gets over to AC Milan and he's making great plays.

I was at the 2008 MLS cup when you guys got ruined. :D You guys barely squeaked into the final game but that is what I love about our league. Just because your standing isn't the best doesn't mean you are shut out from winning the whole thing.

Probably should have spent all that money on a couple of good players. Would have kept the dressing room happier aswell no doubt.

Hey, 3-1 wasn't a bad result against the most dominant team in the league...Columbus was unstoppable all season and we held our own IMO.
But if you want to talk about squeaking into things, we just BARELY got into the playoffs to begin with...and then of course RSL hit the post like 3 times in that conference final. That whole playoff run was something of a dream for us, so we'll take it. Hopefully this year we can take a championship to put in our breathtaking brand-new stadium next season. :thumbup1:

Funny you should mention that. That the majority of the Galaxy's payroll was tied up in 2 players (both forwards, and 1 of whom was constantly injured) and Beckham (who also got injured a lot) is yet another example of Alexi Lalas' genius. LA's defense last season really was among the most atrocious I've ever seen, and it's because that clown doesn't have the first clue on how to build a team.

As for the Galaxy, I didn't even realise that Xavier ended up playing there. I remember him from PSV way back. I found out that he ended up conflicting with Gullit, as explained in this interview: http://www.goal.com/en-us/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=786270 The funny thing is that he really has Gullit down to a T. He's just so right about all of Gullit's poor coaching skills. Especially the part where he mentions that Gullit credits himself for all victories, but blames the players when he loses... He was a great player, but an awful coach.
