I think the band will still do well without Zack. He was a great singer but listening to Live365 radio rebelde most of the words for RATM songs were copied word for word off other bands. So i think the band will do well if they get a gd singer.

I hope they do, RATM is a great band.

I dont quite understand though, I am new to them, are they Communist? I know they have a picture of Che on their amplifier? and a red star as their logo, and on their drum, but are they communist, or merely anti-capitalist?

Are you referring to the quote "who controls the past controls the future" by George Orwell.

RATM are Marxists. to be totally accurate

Hell, my name was taken from a RATM lyric that was a quote by Marx, commenting on historical inequalities, and once they are resolved and the perfect society is formed, we wont have to look back at history.

RATM is my favorite band [as a matter of fact, im listening to them now] and their ideas are predomintatly anti-capitalist. Wether they are Marxist is still up in the air, unless theres some evidence "end of history." if there is, please share!

But as a band, they are awesome. You will not be able to hear lyrical content like that of Zack De La Rocha. He quotes things, but that just goes to show th e intellectualism present in the band. Tom Morello, the guitarist, graduated from Harvard.

Without Zack, its not RATM. Zack and Tom were the heart and soul of that band. One without the other wont work. They might work as a "rock band" but as an agent for poltical change, they are all but done as a group.

This is a tiny bit off topic but still on.. My friend from school made a good point about RATM. He likes their music (I neither like nor dislike it) but he said that when people buy their records, they are supporting the people that RATM hates. He said something to the extent of, "They scream 'Kill Whitey!' but when we buy their music, we're supporting the whities that control the record company." I hope that made sense..

PS: Psycho Chicken, that's from "1984."

I'm pretty sure at least the guitarist Tom Morello is a socialist/communist because he had a shirt at music gala (probably the Golden Globes or something) that read Class War Now with a swoosh over it (the Nike logo if you didn't knew what a swoosh was).

I've been listening to them for a couple of years now.

Yes I know my enemies, they're the teachers who taught me to fight me, compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission, ignorance, hypocracy, brutality, the elite, all of witch are american dreams, all of witch are american dreams, all of witch...

I dont beleive that is true. Brad Wilk isnt interested in politics and is in the band because he likes the style of their music. I might be wrong though ....

It's from 1984. Yeah Rage did use quite a few quotes but surely that only demonstrates how well-read they are?? Zack was a fine vocalist and lyricist. They also use the anarchy "A" quite alot, but I don't think they're anarchists.

It's an interesting point about buying Rage's records, but then again, if noone bought their records, then they wouldn't be able to make a living. Also, presumably they make their records to promote a message which they want to get as many people as possible, so selling records must be a good thing. And if they really hate the industry so much that they don't want it to do what it's programmed to do, then maybe someone should suggest to them that they get another job. That's enough RATM-bashing. I fucking love em....

I am a fan of Tage Against the Machine too. In fact, my interest was first aroused when I saw an image of Che on the drum kit on some late night tv show.

RATM got me started on leftist thinking. I saw their shirt, the one with the quote from Che(which is one of my favorite quotes of all time) and I got really interested in Che. I thank RATM from pulling from the dark side.
The quote is "It is not a matter of wishing success to the victim of agression, but of sharing his fate, one must accompany him to death or to victory."

Just for the record, English isn't my first language. I'm from Québec, Canada and I speak French.

I just didn't notice my mistake.
