what do you understand by the word "fascism"?
is it the massed ranks of nazis goose stepping down your local street?
is it the racist scum bags that blame "johnny foreigner" for unemployment and lack of social housing?
(btw, you don't HAVE to be a racist to be a fascist).
OR is it the "corporate state", that is any state run in the interests of the international/national capitalist companies?
someone else, somewhere on this site, pointed out the obvious, the capitalists only resort to "fascist parties and nazism" when they have failed to control the "working class" by "democratic means".
they'd rather compromise their situation with people that think like they do than even countenance concessions to people who don't.
imo.

Fascism is a mixure of Nationalism, militarism, and a bunch of kids who can't get over the fact that Jews and blacks have made major contributions to this world.

"Original" fascism means a militaristic, nationalistic, intolerant, sexist, corporatist and on bourgeoisis values orientated society to me (= regression and opression).
But today most fascists are actually nazis what means that racism, xenophobia, homophobia and anti-semitism are added to the elements mentioned above (= regression and opression because of unbelievable ignorance and intolerance).

I would say that's about right. The best race is their own. xD Sad...

When naming a social phenomenon, if the name's definition isn't rooted in economics the result tends to be incoherence. "Fascism" is a good example of this, having been reduced in most circles to a swear word. However there is a specific historical thing which called itself "Fascism", and it had an economic basis both openly avowed and genuinely practiced: corporatism. Corporatism is not "any state run in the interests of the international/national capitalist companies"; that applies to every capitalist state. The "corporate" in corporatism simply means "united": a corporatist state seeks to eliminate capitalist "competition" and unite the capitalist class. This has been called "capitalism with the gloves off"; it's generally accompanied by an intensification of all the dirty tricks capitalists use against workers, i.e. nationalism, imperialism, racism etc. Because not only antagonism but simple agonism (internal competition generally) are disavowed in a corporatist state, the need for scapegoating to explain social contradictions is much more urgent, hence the increased likelihood of xenophobia and other hallmarks of Fascism.

Third position economics where being a member of the "Nation" [however defined, usually cultural, racial or religious] is more important than class identity.

+

Totalitarian highly centralised mixed economy, with big business working together with the state to "do whats best for the nation as a whole".

those are the two key factors, there are others like militarism, imperialist expansionism, isolationism, the cult of youth, the cult of action, the elevation of the masculine ideal, the elevation of the ideal of self sacrifice in the service of the nation.

But these latter ones are optional and are present in many movements, the former two together define fascism for me.
