If you have been to rock/metal nights, and been to more mainstream clubnights this much will be obvious to you. The people are far friendlierm, the atmosphere is much better. And when was the last time you heard somebody blasting rock out of their speakephone on public transport.

The people are smelly and have long hair. People in clubs dress more nicely and wash. Fact.

I wouldn't say its an entirely fair generalisation, but I to have found rock shows to have a friendlier atmosphere than clubs.

There are no "better" people, we are all equal.
But one can prefer certain kind of people over others, there is nothing wrong with that. I happen to like rock-folk alot more. They are more open minded and friendly, and there is always the spirit of brotherhood about.

It is not. They are not smelly (at least I haven't noticed), I find long hair to look better than short, and the nice clothing part is a matter of oppinion. And as it happens I think people in mainstream clubs just look stupid.

And the smelliest. :)

I've been a metal fan for 20 years and I have impeccable personal hygiene as well as the finest taste in music. Its opera fans that are stinkards.

Come on now. That's silly. Some people are faster then other people. Some people are smarter then other people. Of course we're not all equal.

Yo, save it for a discussion more serious than one about metal vs. club music (both of which suck btw, hth).

It is true that people own different qualities, but no human has less "human value" than other. Even the mainstream people (no matter how much one dislikes them) deserve to be treated as human beings.

This.
Clubbers are absolute dicks. Give me rockers and metalheads any day.

Metalheads are probably the biggest dicks imo. If you listen to metal and they think you're on their side, then you reveal that yesterday you listened to some Kings of Leon they're all like "WTF POSERCORE".
Or in general, even if you don't listen to metal, they can't accept the fact that there's other music out there and people like it.
In short, metalheads=narrow minded. (Most)
Rock fans are different though and usually kinder.

It depends on the band..
I was a Queens of the Stone Age show, and the crowd was ridiculous. I was punched and shoved onto the floor in the pit and no one stopped to help me up and I was nearly trampled.
At every metal show I've been to, anyone who falls is immediately helped up and 90% of the people won't purposefully punch you, unless they're those muscular skinhead guys who like to start fights.
But I really hate those people who act like they're sooo metal and try to fulfill as many metal cliches as possible, yet don't listen to anything newer than Iron Maiden's "Seventh Son..." because it's not "true metal."

Define "traditional" music... do you mean like Gregorian Chant or something?

Actually, Lol Pot is right. The older people in the hardcore scene are some of the nicest people I've ever met.

No, more in the way of Scottish, Irish or Cape Breton traditional music.
