Just a classic one..

I'D LOVE TO CHANGE THE WORLD (1971)

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity?

Tax the rich,feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I leave it up to you...

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still no feedin',where are we?

Life is funny,skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money,no,not for me

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I leave it up to you...

World pollution,there's no solution
Institution,electrocution
Just black or white, rich or poor
Them and us,we'll stop the war

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I leave it up to you...

Alvin Lee's one of my most favourite guitarists.Great melodies in this song..

Peace

freaks and hairies? a reference to hippies, i assume, and since i have long hair and would probably be termed a neo-hippy by some, one which i consider rather dodgy...

dykes and fairies? i dont think it's a stretch of the imagination to see homophobia in this, yet again making it rather dodgy...

am i just being over-sensitive, or is there an intolerant message in this?

I think you're a little bit over sensitive CB.
I'd like to remind you that Ten Years After were part of the hippie movement in the late 60's,they became famous playing in front of all those people in 1969,at Woodstock, they were long-haired,they were long-bearded and I suppose a lot of people would call them freaks at that time.I've got long hair and "decent" people call me freak or whatever,I don't care.
There are several meanings of the word "fairy",you know the use of English better than me,I think there is a stretch of imagination to call this homophobia, but yet who knows, after all I'm not their lawyer.
Why would we have to search for intolerance?I mean I can see your point, but I have to disagree

Cheers..
