Ok here are my favorite bands
System of a Down
Rage Against the Machine
Cake
Everclear (their punk stuff)
and Korn
ok first of all they are total different types of music so why in the world would someone think they sound the same. Everyone I ask thinks their exactly the same. The only think they have in common is I guess the are all considered rock and all have singing and a guitar and drums. But so does almost evrey other band!
Are their bands that you guys DO think sound the same though? and why?....STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT!

Not really. I aint a massive fan of the metal scene, i have moved on from my days of listening to Korn.
Cake are OK, SOAD dont interest me at all but they are OK aswell, Everclear are non-existant to me and Rage Against The Machine i only listen to for the politics - if they made love songs they would be a terrible band. :)

"...if they made love songs they would be a terrible band."
Hee!
I don't know who your are or what you think, Zippy, but you make me giggle, and I'm happy for that.
Cake is very decent, I think.

Hmm.. I think Cake's OK. I didn't really know who they actually were until "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" came out but I had previously heard and liked "Never There." I used to be into Korn some years ago when I was first getting into my "being different" stage (I was VERY angry and homicidal even!) I had not heard a SOAD song until "Chop Suey!" (I swear!) but I do like that song at least.. I guess I'll have to check out more. Everclear... OK, I guess. I like "Father of Mine" and that "AM Radio." As far as RATM.. I hate to say it, but I really do not like them very much. But I think they & their sound are OK, and they would blow if they made love songs..
Most of the music I like is pretty ummm, something... I really love Cuban stuff, Bossa Nova, & other worldbeat (especially Arabic & Indian music) and I enjoy artists like Miles Davis, Maxwell, Thelonious Monk, and I like Portishead (AM I ALONE ON THAT ONE?) and I'm really beginning to get into electronic/dance/trance/techno/big beat/trip hop/downbeat/house... hmmm. Alright.
And Zippy, you make me giggle too! ;)

Can you imagine? Zack on the stage, crying like a big baby, singing: "Oh, baby, please don't go, I'll give you my everything, wooa woo woo, babyyyyy..."
That made me giggle, too. (Though I'd like to see it.. ;) )

Well, Worldbeat is basically anything that is not in English, but, when you think about it, it's really not necessarily "worldbeat" because in the country from which the music comes, that particular type of music is common and therefore is not "worldbeat," so, I don't know why it's called worldbeat. (Whew! That was very run-on). Why isn't it just Arabic music, or Indian Music, or African music..? Or just music? Oh yeah! I also like some music from Africa too.. :)
And, I'd be quite amused to hear RATM passionately singing and playing a song about a girl whose hair was long and lovely and who looked so "beautiful" in her sun dress. Ahhh! That's scary!
