The Strokes

Has anybody seen them live? I wanted to but couldn't make it
to there show. I heard them and imediantly got their album. It was the first c.d. i got in a year or two. everything has been so boring. But these guys got such a great sound. I love their relaxed punk sound and how they dress retro to the eighties.(seriously who dresses like the eighties?)

but i did buy their lastest c.d. and i like it alot

i am quite fond of the strokes, their music is very mellow and relazing. the music is moody and just relaxing....

I really like their music too. Julian Casablancas has a really melodic voice, and his songs remind me of a really mellow 311 the way they put the vocals against the guitars.

Some of the best rock around today, but still nowhere near as good as the original scene that they came from. If you like The Strokes then listen to their influences and you'll see why they pay so much lip service to Lou Reed. :)

The Strokes suck because they are dull, drony, and sooo monotone. Let's forget for a second that Justin Casablanca sounds like a cheesegrater in a dustbin during an earthquake and concentrate on the music. Does it not pander to the Radio 2, coffee table, midlife crisis kinda person??? Is it not debasing guitar music to its simplest formula ie five talentless blokes in a room who really shouldn't be allowed out of aforemetioned room.

And, let us not forget the manner in which they bend over backwards to impress the industry types they hang around with in New York?? And did they not only get famous cos they have contacts in this sick industry??This isn't rock n fuckin roll, this is no better than Shitney fucking Beers....

When lack of talent stops people making music the world is completely screwed. Some of the best songs ever have been made by talentless people - Sex Pistols were shite and they changed the world, The Ramones couldnt play guitar to save their lives but some of their songs are fantastic - lack of talent doesnt mean its bad music.

I can see why you hate The Strokes; i ignored them for ages because i hate media hype and the songs seemed semi-shite anyway, but i finally got the album and i had to admit its pretty good. Its nothing special, and it isnt going to "save" rock music (if it even needs saving) but its a fun album so i like it. :)

The Strokes are one of the catchiest groups today. They stole all there rythms from the 80's and marketed it to today's kids, fricken genious'. They may not have alot of talent but their cool to listen to.

Zippy - fair enough, you couldn't really expect me to come up with any rational argument for why I fucking hate The Strokes could you?? I happen to love some punk bands just because they're talentless but I instantly hated The Strokes cos it's so used and such a tired sound. The Hives are waaaaaaay better...

I hadnt realised that thaat was one of there songs before, nofx did an ace cover of it, and i didnt realise that it was a strokes song before that. But the nofx version is SOOO much better!

NOFX rawk! a few good songs.... how many songs have you heard?i love them.

Neway, even if u are rite in saying they only have a few good songs, The Strokes only have ONE good song! And that IS only becos of the nofx version.

Im not gonna get into a big argument about tastes in music and stuff, cos dude, u would have me here ALL day!
