From tonight You tube will be blocking premium music videos for UK users.

"Videos will begin to be blocked from 1800 GMT with the majority of them made inaccessible over the next two days."

While the "premium" aspect of the ban probably means that most RevLeft users won't be too badly affected, I think this may be a bad sign of things to come.

Premium? WTF does that even mean? I hate these stupid vague marketing terms.

It probably means the ones they think they should be able to extract the most income from. As I sugested, probably not the stuff most members here would want anyway.

While I don't realy care about losing their "premium" content I feel the significance of this decision is in the large scale censoring of content to a specific area. They can do it with music videos but not child pornography!

I think this is the biggest attempt to regulate/censor internet content in the UK that we have yet seen. I hope it isn't the the first step in a bid to increasingly censor, for comercial or any other reasons, what we can access on the internet.

Is this why certain music videos state that it is not available in your country?

I was wondering about that.
