Anyone likes some Oi! bands here? Well, I've heard most of the British Oi, and its quite good...Angelic upstarts are my favourites...
And one question? Why do those right-wingers love Oi! music so much...I mean, its ok with the Skrewdriver, but why do they like Ang. upstarts, Business, etc...?

Oi! is great. Right-wingers generally know not to listen to the Upstarts now that they're signed to Insurgence (antifa's label). A lot of them are just idiots. Many RAC guys prefer C-84 to Skrewdriver nowadays. C-84's easier to brainwash people with.

Oi! is mostley the skinheads scene(the SHARPS) and the skin scene is know for Oi! and nationalism, wich would make common Oi! patriotic music.

As far as i know there are oi punks as well as oi skins...
and there not the whole skin-scene ís nationalistic as far as i know...

i have yet to meet a leftist skin though.

The scene's definitely patriotic, but nationalistic? not the majority. I think that the patriotism reflects that of the white working class. They might be fooled, but I have faith that they'd be more left wing if they knew the truth about their countries. I'm an Oi!/street punk type. I'd be RASH, but I like my hair too much. Anyway, there are hints of leftism in the patriotic and apolitical bands.

one thing i'm wondering about....

even though not all skinheads may be considered political-right.....do they still all want to just beat someone up? because i've never met another one in my lifetime for some reason....
even while moshing some tried to involve people in fights :/

The skinhead's brain,is like his hair..It doesn't exist.

Rob

No, not all skins are looking for fights, and I've met some intelligent skins, so please, enough of the insults.

libereco

wasn't trying to insult...i was really wondering, from all i knew it may have been part of their...culture.

Michael

I don't know Rob,but I've never met an intelligent skinhead. What are we talking about? The guys think (?)fasist..I've met a lot of them with iron crosses and swastika symbols all over their bodies. What?Did the world change so much and we're talking about skins in a Che forum?

Rob
6th December 2001, 22:03
Michael, I'm afraid that not all skins are nazis. Haven't you heard of SHARP or RASH, or even Oi! Agaisnt Racialism and Political extremism?

Michael
7th December 2001, 14:07
Haven't heard of...no..But you see I'm only talking for what I've seen.I've met extreme left-wingers,anarchists who looked like skins but most of the skinhead movements are nazi.I got no problem to accept what you say,but believe me we had a lot of fights with skins on the road.

I've met several left-wing skins, and they're great people. But I'm afraid that the majority in Britain are intolerant, racist scumbags with an iq level on a par with GW Bush.So I see Michael and libereco's point.

I would gladly explain those terms Kamo
RASH is Red and Anarchist Skin Heads
SHARP is Skin Heads Against Racial Prejudice
and skin is just short for skinhead

oh, and I agree with you kamo, naziwatch has great mp3s

Yeah, here things are awful with skinheads...You have so called SHARP's drinking with nazis, well, in my town things are something better, it is traditionaly leftist city, so i have no problems with them, but in Zagreb-the capitol, and Split there are plenty of stupid nationalists.and the worst thing is that anyone won't do anything about it....

So are Sharps and Rash's politcally motivated or is it a gimmick?

whats the history of OI?
comrade kamo

Rob

Sharps claim that their objection to racism is moral, not political, and they generally try to avoid politics. Rash are political, but they've been accused of just using politics to start fights.

The history of Oi? umm I guess it started with punk. Punk bands like Menace, Sham 69, Cock Sparrer and Skrewdriver (before they were openly nazis) had large followings of skins. Then came the Angelic Upstarts and the Cockney Rejects. Their more anthemic punk was named Oi! by the journalist Gary Bushell. After that the first all-skinhead bands, the 4-Skins and the Last Resort got going, along with others like the Business, the Exploited (their "Oi!" status is debatable), and a bunch more I can't think of (look at the track listing to Oi!-the album for more). Then it spread, factions formed, and more bands started. And nazi Oi! is called RAC, or Rock Against Communism.

I like Oi Polloi. Scottish band I think. Some very good stuff.

basically, oi! is-for better or worse-a parody of punk. everything punk has, it has more of. punk has fast, simple guitar lines, oi! has really fast, really simple guitar lines (i'm know i'm generalizing majorly). punk has popish backup vocals, oi! has cheesy pop-stlye backups and "oi oi oi!" 's. punks are stereotypically violent and stupid, and oi! bands take that farther. it seems like even the non-racist skins are fairly tolerant to racism and not very open-minded. SHARP is supposedly very homophobic, and many non-racist skins are in bands with racists. also, the term "racialist" seems to be a way for nazi's and nazi sympathizers to avoid using the term racist.

Rob
25th December 2001, 04:19
Yeah, a lot of sharps are homophobic, but so is a lot of everybody, and a lot aren't homophobes. I'm not trying to justify it, but I think that homophobia needs to be fought in every situation. As for "non-racist" skins in bands with nazis, that's just a damn shame. I guess they're just fools. That racialist thing is also very true.

yeah, i was on a racist skin site (gotta know your enemy) and there was a band interview in which one member said "yeah, some of us are racist and some of us aren't, so we don't sing about that kinda stuff" and i thought "what the hell?!" it blew my mind that non-racists would be in a band with assholes like that. and most oi! bands are brittish kamo.

Kez
26th December 2001, 12:02
ah, i was on that anti-nazi site, and most of the oi there is italian, like razzaparte, british bands may be racists, so i refuse to download shit from them.
In fact gimme the names of their sites and i can smash em up :)
