Duck Soup has so many sexist side remarks... but the other stuff in it is funny.

I had to vote for Duck Soup because The 18th Brumaire of Louis Napoleon wasn't on the list.

But the movie is the best of the brothers' features; an original screenplay, a good director and they didn't have to play second fiddle to an ingenue love story.

Totally OT, but I always thought it was the "18th brumaire of Louis Bonaparte."

It turns out you're quite correct, the original edition was Louis Napoleon. Out of curiosity, anybody know why Marx changed it to "Louis Bonaparte" in later editions?

And yeah the absence of the "Critique of the Gotha Program" is a deal breaker for me. SOrry but as much as I tried, I can't find the Marx brothers all that funny. I realize for the time it must have been real comic relief but what 70 years later it's admittedly hard to get a kick out of it.

Ive always felt marx was a con artist... on paper communism is great, but in reality it is too oppressive. All form of goverment and leadership is.... There is no authority but yourself (in my oppinion, but i shall wait for the hate mail haha)
