A NEW political party aimed at cleaning up politics is being set up by a multi-millionaire businessman. Sir Paul Judge, a former Tory grandee, believes the power of the internet and disillusionment with sleaze make the time right for a party dedicated to independent thought and open governance.
The party has no specific policies and no manifesto. Instead, it will select its candidates by public vote from anyone who puts themselves forward, provided they are committed to the principles of good governance, including selflessness, integrity, openness and honesty.
Nominees will have their details and interests published online; the public will then vote by text message, X-Factor-style, to choose the partys election candidates.- The Times (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article5864530.ece)

This was in the Independant today- had a look at the website. I hope I'm wrong, but it looks dire. This is the information up about the candidate in my area:
"I am dedicated to working within the community and as an nana I object to sleez"
It's early days yet, I hope it actually turns out alright, but if I know the British masses they're gonna fight for the reinstatement of capital punishment for immigrants and an end to the welfare state. A party guided by the tabloid-reading-public. The rule of the Daily Masses :(

I was thinking it was an opportunity for entryism with funding available for candidates.

Because candidates campaigns will be bankrolled and supported with seemingly no restrictions on policies or manifesto.

Not only an ex-Tory, but an ex-banker. And he also used to work for Cadburys in charge of their operations in Kenya from before they started pretending to be against slavery. What a CV!
I shouldn't think the people involved in this- the vocal "Britain's gone to the dogs- and by that I mean dirty foreigners" lot would ever vote for a socialist. This just seems like a project for Middle-Englanders unhappy that politicians don't take the stuff Richard Littlejohn/Melanie Phillips lie about more seriously than they do. Good luck and all, if anyone decides to give it a go.
Some of the demands I agree with, about reform of the electoral system- but I can't see it going anywhere.

Most of the candidates have been selected now and disappointingly there doesn't seem to be any left-wing candidates.

Typical. Right wing "democracy" does not represent working people.

I don't know much about British politics, however, if your class dictatorship is any thing like ours, even the "independents" won't fund a leftist candidate.

What do you mean by "right-wing democracy"? The candidates were chosen by voting by text message.
