View Full Version : "After Marx, April" - Europe Ready To Revolt?

These are surely interesting times to be living in.

It is difficult to gather full information on everything that is now going on as resistance to new-depression era capitalism begins to concretize and a new movement for change begins to arise from the ashes of the parties and unions that struggled on or capitulated in the neo-liberal ascendancy.

However, the outline of a calendar of possibly momentous events is beginning to form - and with a bit of luck they will feed off each other and build the general feeling that change is on the move that is necessary if any serious movement of challenge and change is to expand beyond the usual suspects.

So what do we see in Europe over the next few months? - These might be crucial events, please add more to the thread as people find out -

Thursday 19th March - planned day of action and general strike against the Sarkozy regime in France.

Saturday 28th March - mass demonstration in London to "speak truth to power" and confront the G20. This to lead on to more militant events throughout the week, particularly on 1st, 2nd and 3rd April.

Monday 30th March - A general strike(?) and mass demonstrations to confront the tottering government of one of the wobbliest economies in Europe - Ireland.

Does anyone know of events taking place in other parts of Europe and around the world in this period with potential for going beyond the usual ritualised protests?:)

On 28th March, there'll also be major demonstrations in Germany (Berlin and Frankfurt) and Austria (Vienna).

I will definetly be going to London and probably Strasbourg too. I am cautiously optimistic about the prospects - think "rebirth" of the global anticapitalist movement, or a second phase of the movement that started in Seattle.

I also expect the State to turn to extreme violence quite quickly, so we'll see what goes down.

Avanti!

Avanti!Ya but i think more southern California would be a center of a rebellion against the US in the next 10 years because of the large amount of socialist supporting youth(14-26) that are willing to rebel

Like Joe Hill said, don't mourn, organize!
Google the "Bisbee Deportation of 1917" for some radical history from Arizona!
