Comrades, i'd like to introduce you to the world of Ernst Busch.

Comrade Ernst was born in Germany. He was the greatest, and in my opinion still the greatest, Communist singer ever born.

He was fiercely loyal to the ideals of Communism and the East German regime.

He sang all the Party's propaganda songs and made many of his own to show his love for the Socialist Fatherland and its people.

-From Wikipedia-

Ernst Busch (22 January 1900 - 8 June 1980) was a German singer and actor. He was born in Kiel and died in Berlin.
Busch first rose to prominence as an interpreter of political songs, particularly those of Kurt Tucholsky, in the Berlin cabaret scene of the 1920s. He starred in the original 1928 production of Bertold Brecht's Threepenny Opera, as well as the subsequent 1931 film by Georg Wilhelm Pabst. He also appeared in the movie Kuhle Wampe.
A lifelong Communist, Busch fled Nazi Germany in 1933 with the Gestapo on his heels, eventually settling in the Soviet Union. In 1937 he joined the International Brigades to fight against fascism in Spain. After Spain fell to Franco, he emigrated to Belgium, where he was interned during the Nazi occupation and later imprisoned in Camp Gurs, France and Berlin. Freed by the Red Army in 1945, he settled in East Berlin, where he worked with Bertold Brecht and Erwin Piscator at the "Berliner Ensemble". A beloved figure in the German Democratic Republic, he is best remembered for his performance in the title role of Brecht's Galileo, and for his stirring recordings of workers songs, including many written by Hanns Eisler. He also made a memorable and haunting recording of Peat Bog Soldiers.

Even if you don't understand German I assure you his songs will fill you with revolutionary fervour.

You will love him as much as I do.

His songs are available on CD or, the easier option, is to download them in torrents like I did.

You can find my favourite song of his 'Der Heimliche Aufmarsch' on Youtube. Some videos even have funny pictures of Bush as Hitler with the song playing in the background lol.

Enjoy comrades!

Die sozialistische Weltrepublik!

As much as I could criticise the DDR, I have to admit that I'm a fan of his.

There are some mp3s of Ernst Busch songs on this page: http://communisme-bolchevisme.net/telecharger_musiques_mp3_livres_communistes.htm#Mu siques (click "Musiques").

Necro: is it a fast-paced song? Then it's probably this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2mDW4xw8T8 Not actually from the DDR, but from the Swedish band IFA Wartburg, who satirically use a whole bunch of DDR vocabulary. The actual lyrics are: http://www.plattenmeister.de/ifa-wartburg/songtexte/fdj.txt
