I fear that these 7 words are the reason why there will never be a perfect system or utopia on earth. What is your view?
1. Lust
2. Gluttony
3. Greed
4. Sloth
5. Wrath
6. Envy
7. Pride

Well... words cannot actually, materially, prevent anything from happening...
But if you mean that these characteristics are why there will never be a utopia, I'd ask: who's striving for a utopia?

These are all aspects of humanity, and any system we hold to be worth achieving will need to function with these realities, or otherwise become impracticable. I am not striving for a utopia where everyone just holds hands and sings folk music. I would like to see a particular arrangement of power relationships that I believe to be quite tangible and possible. None of these "sins" are entirely negative or positive things. Taken in moderation, they are all quite useful and fine. Channeling such desires towards activities and behaviors that maximize happiness, while minimizing harm towards others is just an issue of ethics, and will be an issue to address regardless of which politico-economic structure we live in.
Lust is a vital part of enjoying sex... but, yes, rape is bad. Gluttony is not always bad... I can imagine some rather boring celebrations if our diets are all ascetic. I want a greater share of my labor and the power to have a say in how society is organized in a meaningful way... how is this not a degree of greed? I appreciate the labor movement's fight for the weekend... two days of being able to sit on one's ass if one wishes instead of working (yay sloth... work is not inherently good). I have wrath against those that I perceive as having wronged me. It is wrath that in part motivates me against the state, military, capitalists, etc.. Envy can be destructive as a motivator for the corporate ladder-climber mentality, but can also be used to fuel resentment against the immense wealth and power of social elites. Pride can be good or bad, depending on what one has pride in. Pride in the nation-state is bad. Pride in one's work, abilities, skills, comrades... can be good.

In Biblical times sloth referred to depression, not laziness

Prove that these are 'normal brain functions'.
If you say 'The Bible said so', hopefully you get restricted or shot or something. Hell, I'm being nice enough not to ask how the fuck these have any relevance to socialism, which is presumably what you mean by 'utopia', which is a mislabel. I mean, seriously, "I'm so pissed off that socialism is impossible! I am so hungry that socialism is impossible! I want to have sex so much that socialism is impossible! I want to own the means of production, but nobody else gives a shit, so socialism is impossible! The word, "Gluttony", exists, therefore socialism is impossible! I'm so awesome that socialism is impossible! I wish my penis was as big as God's, the bastard, so socialism is impossible! I'm depressed, and therefore socialism can't work!"

Well, my utopia is one where we can fuck as much as we like, eat as much as we like, have as much as we like, be as lazy/depressed as we like, beat people up in online games as much as we like, think that the other person is much better at us in that fantasy game and wish we were better, and feel wonderful about how good we are in that fantasy game.
So, yeah, my utopia is one where sin is encouraged!
Seriously though, most of those are irrelevant. And the ones that aren't, are as well. We aren't moralists, we don't care if someone eats heaps or likes sex, and if that person over there thinks that they are good at something, let them think that, it doesn't affect me.

All, if referring to broad human desires, are 'natural' according to most of the theories of human behaviour I have come into contact with. However, the things in question I believe refer to such desires taken to excess, as Diagoras said.
In terms of Utopia, I believe its meaning 'no place' is accurate in that it represents an unattainable ideal. I do not know of any really Utopian leftists, or any Utopians at all for that matter.

O.K. I am not a follower of the bible, and I don't equate Socialism with Utopia...what I was getting at...even if it weren't clear, is that Capatalism seems to be made up of a few, if not all of these seven. Being shot is kind of harsh, and something that the Stormfronters would write.
I am not a pro-capatalist, so I apologize for getting people to think that is where I was coming from.
