I felt bored and started toying with the USA great seal and this was the result. The banner says "Workers of the world unite" in latin. At least I think it does, I don't speak latin and had to use an online translator thing.
Would be fun to show it to some right-wing american patriot redneck just to see his reaction. What do you think of it?

I think the globe would look better if it were rotated so you could see the Americas. Also, some kind of lettering (the real Seal says "The Great Seal Of The United States Of America") or pattern around the edge would make it look more authentic and less bare.

But otherwise, that's a great picture.

The map coordinate system still doesn't fit with the map itself, but I fixed the edges. The eagles banner looks cleaner as well.

Why would you want a seal to carry on the old symbols that the current US government uses. Do away with the stupid eagle, everything else is cool.

Also,why would the USSA use the same flag design? Just have a red flag people! Maybe with a hammer and sickle on it or something, but dont use the same old ugly design.

It was supposed to be based around the old one as a joke of some kind, annoying conservatives by making their symbol socialist. Same with the flag really. It should probably be completely red but still.

I see, I'm not shooting down the picture entirely I think its pretty damn good. Just if there ever was a USSA, I don't think we should use the eagle and same old american bullshit. ;)

The mixture of the old design with new symbology is a dramatic contrast, in my opinion - I think it gives the flag more impact than if it was entirely new.

I think it would be in poor taste to keep using a symbol that has come to represent the US. In my opinion, dramatic contrast is something entirely new for the US, like say a red flag adorned with a hammer and sickle, or simply a red flag, red/black flag etc. Keeping the old archaic bourgeois symbolism is surely something I oppose as much as the bourgeois themselves.

Well I wouldn't expect you to, you aren't psychic(at least I don't think so). :) Kinda cool/strange that we designed pretty much the same thing though. The hammer and sickle was stolen from the Austrian coat of arms. I made the flags in photoshop.

Look at polish soviet's or insertnamehere's avatar. Wheat or rice is cliched. definitely not the olive branch.

Corn/maize might be cool, it's indigenous to the continent and i don't think it's been done.

I just don't think copying the same old stuff is going to be sufficient for a flag that I would want to represent a new socialist republic. A new design would be better in my opinion, one that is created with the ideals, aspirations, and potential of a new socialist society in mind, instead of keeping the old crap that represented bourgeois order. Possibly some type of variation of the hammer/sickle, or something new entirely.

I think we should embrace the revolutionary spirit of the American Revolution, so I don't have a problem with keeping some resemblance to old symbols. I doubt people would want to change them drastically.

Honestly, this is like saying that the Nazis had a revolutionary spirit for wanting to overturn the stipulations of the Treaty of Versailles. Give me a break.

Anyway, the graphics look cool, but in real life I would prefer new symbols with no history of imperialism and the like.

I see just what you mean, I would be a bit freaked out as well. It is not to be taken literarly of course. Washington D.C., and capitol hill in particular, is a symbol of capitalism and imperialism. D.C. in ruins is a symbol of the end of the regime. I have no intention of actually destroying the city, the image just fitted quite well. The guy with the flag was placed there because he raised the flag over Berlin after the fall of the nazis in Germany, and now the fall of capitalism / imperialism in America.

You mean the level of destruction? The pic of D.C. was taken from a video game featuring the aftermath of a fictional nuclear war. I for one, hope nuclear weapons are never used again of course. A revolution wouldn't damage a city like that, hopefully not at all. The main point is the text in the corner, that even the strongest country like the USA can fall pretty quickly.
