View Full Version : Homophobia in the US Military

According to a US soldier I met on YouTube I deserve to be "fag stomped". I don't know what that means exactly, but since he called me a "homo" presumably he doesn't mean he wants to stomp out my cigarette.
What should I do about this? This guy is a real asshole and causing him trouble for his bigotry is very appealing to me (plus the fact that he goes around with a gun in "rag head" communities is also a cause for concern). How does a British citizen about complaining about this little runt in US army?

"fag stomped" sounds like gay bashing to me.
Although, actualy, I dont think he's done anything illegal unfortuantly.
The US military has that whole messed up dont ask, dont tell situation within thier ranks which is basicly a get out of jail card for verbal abuse. If the crime was committed while he was on leave then civilian law may apply that he could be prosecuted with. If not, I'm not sure what can be done.
I have heard personal accounts from ex US-servicemen who have come out after leaving the military, who have been supported by the squaddies from thier unit afterwards. At the same time, I've read, but not personaly encountered, stories of homophobic abuse in the same situations. At the end of the day, soldiers are human biengs and open to both the same understanding and predjudices that we all are in a society that breeds it. This individual obvious falls into the latter category.
What I'd suggest you do is get in contact with your local constabulary. Most of them have a website these days and some even have a form that can be filled in about hate crime available on the website. Write down everything you know, leave nothing out. Times, dates, exact content, everything. Takes screenshots of the page too. If you feel like finding some information out beforehand to save the police some time (probably a good idea) then some vital bits of information they're going to need is whether he was on duty at the time, name and number. Youtube would be able to provide some information too about the poster's IP, which could be helpful for finding out which soldier had time booked at the computers at that time. It's up to you whether you want to get that yourself, or leave it for the police to request.
In all honesty, if he was on duty, at best the guy will get a beasting for causing his officer hassle, spend a day with the Military Police in one of thier cells and that's it. Just bear in mind that you wont change the world with this okay? :)

The army won't do a damn thing. Stalk him online, ruin his life. Create a homosexual alterego and make accounts on gay websites impersonating him using the same account name he uses on YouTube or slight variations. Occasionally mail him gay porn to Iraq if you like but that would make it obvious to others that someone was fucking with him. The trick is in not calling attention to it at all yourself, google will eventually do it for you. Assuming he isn't googling himself every other day it will more than likely be one of his friends or family to find them first, maybe 6 months down the line. I'll admit its the psychopathic angle and if anything will make him even more against gay people, but theres always the chance that you've ruined this guy's life and maybe even lined him up for a "fag stomping" too. Think of it as "identity correction" as The Yes Men would call it.
EDIT: If its the gentleman I have just found, he has What What In The Butt as a favourite.

Oh yes I know I won't change the world. To be honest I don't think I'll bother going to the police . . . though I did find some military complaint page . . . meh, I think I'll just troll around when I get some spare time.

Yeah, I saw that. There's something very Tim McVay about the guy.
