Folk music, almost per definition, comments on the imbalances in society. I'm talking Dylan, Cohen... Anyone else here into folk? I'll post some lyrics if anyone's interested :-)

I love Cohen, personally.

You might also want to check out Phil Ochs, who was overty political, and the disc "Fellow Workers" by Ani DiFranco and Utah Phillips, which is wonderful.

I am very interested in all kinds of music. Actualy I got interested in listening to "Folk" from listening to Celtic, or Irish rebelion music... I was brought up on the stuff as my Grandfather was an old Feinian man from the Irish slums of Glasgow Scotland. Anyway from listening to that... which once was called folk (at least here in NY) and was in the folk section... when buying records (and I mean records...not CD's as I'm old enough to have quite a few) I came accross some interesting folk songs that are also rebelious in spirit...

Well heck... Folk music in truth means "people's music" for that's what folk's are... people... So naturaly their music would be rebelious in spirit. It's not about fancy dress and large extravagence... it's about every day life...
