I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I certainly do "like" Che Guevara.

I admire his tenacity, bravery, and unwavering commitment to being a true revolutionary.

I also value his critiques of imperialism & capitalism, appreciate his intellect, and find his life to be very inspiring.

... I'm not sure I get your question

I think he means why don't we all take up armed revolt against the state.

I much prefer shooting my mouth off and complaining than actually doing anything.

I think he means, why can't we be like Che, and just go hard until we win.

It'd be good if we were all more like Che.

I'm going to assume what the OP means is why can't we follow Che's actions in organizing a revolutionary effort and immediately taking up a direct armed opposition.Well....

1)The circumstances of Cuba were obviously quite different then they are currently in western Europe and the U.S. The material conditions are not nearly as dire at this point as they were in Batista Cuba. There was a horrible standard of living and blatant injustice in the population largely not having access to food, education, healthcare, and shelter while a few capitalists and government officials lived like kings. They felt backed into a corner, and were more willing to fight and in larger numbers because of these conditions.

2) Not to take anything away from the extraordinary victory of Che, Castro, or anyone included in the July 26th Movement, but the Cuban military is not really comparable to the modern U.S. military. Try gathering a group of armed guerrillas and go wandering around in the wilderness launching attacks on barracks and see how far you get. The effort even failed in Bolivia, due to U.S. aid and lack of popular support.

3)Some people don't see this as a legit revolution. They think that the proletariat needs to independently develop class consciousness and overthrow the system with its sheer numbers, as opposed to a smaller revolutionary group doing so despite having the populations support.

All that said,my opinion is that Che's example is nothing short of epic and is one we can all admire and follow, but the strategies he employed in Cuba are not necessarily applicable or realistic for other situations.

Because arguably the Cuban revolution was not actually a revolution.

I'm pretty indifferent to Che these days, i'm not a huge supporter of his tactics.

I find him more inspiring as a person, in terms of what he did, thats the inspiring part.

In the end being a man like Che Guevara is a fantasy. We have to think beyond political, legal and economic changes and be able to make a descriptive understanding of what will change and how it will change so we can be able to control, cause and manipulate these changes to the best interests of the people.

If we focus only on militant actions we end up with militarism which will likely turn out to be the formation of dictatorship due to the warrior like culture we have taken in. As I have said before, we must use the justice system to our best actions. If we use their own legal systems on those who have exploited in the end everyone will win.

First is due to the fact that no mob styled actions will be taken against these people.
Seconds is due to the fact they will get some what of a fair trial which I think everyone deserves.

In the end we need to have a sense of dignity not only for ourselves but for those we see problems with.
