The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has decided to hold a national strike on 30 March because employers - including the Government - are not abiding by the National Wage Agreement.

Excellent news! A good step forward .

Also some other good news :
Anglo Irish was raided today by Gardai.

The headquarters of Anglo Irish Bank are being searched on behalf of the Director of Corporate Enforcement.
Gardaķ attached to the ODCE are carrying out the search at the Bank's headquarters in St Stephen's Green in Dublin.
Search teams went into the bank's offices just after 9am this morning.

However :Mr Cowen also said that for operational reasons, the ODCE will not be disclosing what suspected offences under the Companies Act are being investigated.:glare:

Personally I think the Garda "raid" on the offices of the Anglo Irish Bank is a FF publicity stunt after the great success of the recent ICTU workers march through Dublin and the feeling on the streets of total disgust at these fat cats wages while the worker suffers through the recession it would be stupid for FF not to try some shit like that..I wouldnt hold my breath for results from this "raid"

Neither would I but they are under a lot of pressure to be seen to do something about what was going on in Anglo. There is a chance that there will be some scapegoats.
