You mean you want a map which identifies all the indigenous 'countries'/'territories' in the USA?

Are you talking about the territory that the Native American tribes held?

Here's the Skálholt map, made by an Icelandic teacher in 1570. As far as pre-Columbus goes, I think that's about it.

Turkish Admiral Piri Reis had a map of South America in the 1500s. The land mas to the right is Africa, with Spain and the Mediterranean just visible, and to the Left, Brazil.
Erik Von Danekin put this forward as proof that extra terrestrials have influenced human societies over the years (:D) but really it's not that impressive. They have found evidence of permanent Viking settlements n N.America, although they probably didn't know where the fuck they were. And apparently the Chinese Empire was thinking of expanding into California at one point, though the Emperor feared doing so for superstitious reasons.

Test to search for maps of the Aztec and Incan Empires. Then combine them together, and you got the world before Columbus arrived.

Yes obviously there is a certain cultural (perhaps racial?) chauvanism underlying the idea that we "discovered" them. Of course humans discovered North America whenever it was they crossed the ice bridge into Alaska. But from a European historical perspective Columbus did fuck all except brag more than everyone else.

TLS, I realize that the Vikings did land and settle on North America, but from what I know there has never actually been any maps discovered that were created by them of the continent.

That would be only South America, we got to include my tribal territory in here!

There were few political structures that could be defined as "states" in pre-Columbian America. There were nations that held territory but things were much more fluid. The state was not prevalent in the Americas, save for the empires.

I also don't think any of the pre-Columbian societies in the Americas had anything like the European idea of a map or even like territory. So most maps of the area would have to be constructed through guesswork, although scholars do have some vague ideas as to the extent of the Inka and Aztec Empires, for instance.

If its 1570 isn't pre-Columbus; it is around 75 years post-columbus.

Explain.

Just really an estimation.
The different American cultures had some history, which they brought down vocally or actually wrote down, and then, archeologic evidence supports that a lot of cultures have existed there.

Well Columbus didn't discover America, he just went there and told everyone he went there.

Of course Columbus and his crew made a discovery; they revealed to European society that there was land in an area they previously had left unexplored. While that discovery may have been limited to European society, it is a discovery nonetheless.
