The man you want for the English Reformation is Christopher Hill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Hill_(Historian)). I've not read any of his works that deal specifically with religion and he does deal primarily with the 17th C. Still, I was impressed with his biography of Cromwell and would definitely recommend him

Engels' Peasant War in Germany (http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1850/peasant-war-germany/index.htm) is also well worth checking out. Treat it with the caution it deserves but be aware that most Marxist historians who deal with the subject owe this particular work a great debt

Thanks, his book "Reformation to Industrial Revolution" looks good

I'm looking more for stuff centered around 1520/30

Erich Fromm talks a lot about the Reformation in The Fear of Freedom.
