i was wondering, what is the baseball situation around the world. i know the USA, Cuba, Japan, Korea, and some of the Caribbean islands have a huge following, but what about Europe and Africa? do they have a decent baseball scene?
also, in america, at least for soccer, most people cheer for european teams. is the situation reversed for baseball; europeans, asians, and africans, cheering or at least interested in USA baseball?

Can't say it's even slightly popular in the most important continent on earth (europe).

Nah, I don't like baseball and I'm from one of those caribbean islands (although, even in the island I'm from baseball isn't as popular as basketball and volleyball. Plus the only sport I see people ever get excited to watch is boxing, specifically if it's a Puerto Rican boxer versus anyone else. Hell, I think soccer {or what exactly should be properly called football} is gaining a following on the island.)...I'm under the impression that many of the players in the Puerto Rican baseball team may be of Dominican decent.

We play rounders and softball more over here than baseball in terms of those sorts of sports, and cricket is the dominanent bat sport. Obviously we have football and rugby too as our main sports. i've never ever seen it played anywhere in Europe.
It wouldn't be popular in Ireland as cos everyones using their bats for hurling :p

honestly i had tons of more fun playing baseball as kid then any other sport. i still love to play the sport!
with the world baseball classic coming up again, is anyone starting to get interested in knowing about the sport?
by the way, baseball is about the 4th or 5th most watched sport behind american football, NASCAR (i dont want to talk about it:crying:), and basketball. i cant even imagine how far it lags behind in the world.

makes me sick. im a huge RBNY fan and i cant stand hearing people talk about how passionate a ManU fan they are even though they've never been to europe in their life. i cheer for west ham in england and get up early on saturdays to watch the games on the internet, but im not at upton park every week.
as for baseball, i love it. not great at playing it, but im a huge mets fan. ive been to greece, germany, canada and the bahamas. never seen any slight baseball influence or presence.
