11,000 anti-nazis is good. Who was there aside from antifa?

6000 nazis is very very bad, especially since so many of them seem so young.

there where several marches from the "burger kundung" going through the historic center to converge on the central square, and so preventing the nazi's from being able to take center stage in the "alte stad"
this "burger kundung" exsisted mostly from the parlemantarian left, trade unions and churches etc.

we expexted over 8.000 so it could have been worse, but very scary indeed

We had loads of fun, a tiny bummer that we couldn't get our hands on some fash but we got their demo shortened so victory was ours anyway. It was a fun trip and totally worth the 11 hour bustrip, we showed our international solidarity and made a lot of friends. The anti-deutsche are a bit odd, and I'm surprised but very content with the fact that no one of us got into fights with them over their love of Israel.

ok, insiders joke.

To bad we didn't manage to attack/block or stop them before the march started. But from hearing from other people this year the counter demonstrations were way bigger (and succesfuller?) than the years before, I hope 'we' can continue this line.

i just wonderd, you said that this year was more succesfull, but i heard that the previous 2 years the demo was completely blocked?

jaffe
17th February 2009, 21:48
last year it wasn't blocked (delayed) and the majority of the radical anti demonstrators were anti-germans. But that's why I used a ? by the word succesfuller.

edit: also blocking can also mean they still can start their march but have to shorten their route. Something that happened also this time.

These people are fucking douche bags. They are no better than the Nazis.

Nice job though, that is a good counter rally, sometimes you just have to wish the police would stay out of these things...

It is just reverse racism. My bet is that if the Nazis had won the war they would be the strongest supporters. It is the left (right? they don't really seem to have any sophisticated political views) out of popularity.
If I meet one of these people some day, I will treat them no differently than I treat any other racist prick.

AFAIK the nazi demo has never been blocked. In recent years, the protests were dominated by the antideutsche, who have quite a following in Saxony but are despised by the majority of the left in the rest of Germany, so very few people actually wanted to go to Dresden to march with them and their Israeli and US flags. This year it was different for the first time, as a large alliance named "No pasarán" had been formed excluding the antideutsche (who called their mobilization "Venceremos") attracting 5 to 10 times more antifascists than usual.
However, the nazis seem to become more aggressive and dangerous nowadays, there were several attacks against antifascists along the highway on the way home, one comrade was dragged from a union bus and had his skull fractured by the fascist scum. :(

Anti-german just seem to be completely out of it. I'm sorry, but I think anyone involved in that is mentally unwell.

Also, fuck nazis.
