I can't even imagine asking thatObviously not cause I bet he's a rich bastard.

I like the way they all talk about "leading them out of poverty" and that they "should be taking responsibility" as if they don't work. These people are both working and poor...and in this economic situation there's just too little chances to get better jobs. Only the winners in capitalist say "suck it up", why should we take their advice at all?

Although, I wonder...the derisive way they speak about this people seems to me to be something that should be "off-putting" to most people. How can any idiot can watch this crap unless it's just to laugh at some crazies?

That would be funny if it wasn't so depressing. I had to switch off after about 2 mins. I'm sorry, I am quite easily moved to disgust, and when they rip into people who want their own bathroom, I can't really tolerate it.

Precisely. I can't believe that some people watch Fox for actual news... it's disturbing how people buy into this selfish rhetoric even if they're in a similar situation to the "moochers" in the video.

I find it quite sad how disillusioned American society is that even workers begin to become fond of their oppressors - it's like Stockholm Syndrome.

On a similar note, has anyone seen the documentary "Outfoxed?" It's pretty good at ripping Fox a new one, although it's not widely distributed.

Stockholm Syndrome.

Pretty much.

But here's the thing. The ruling class has managed to convince people that no matter how much they suffer right now, they'd suffer more under a different system.

People are afraid of real change, because it threatens their stability. There are only a small group of very rich people, yet they hold all this power because everyone lets them exercise it. Money doesn't exist, it's a fiction. It's data on a computer or ink on a piece of paper. It has power because people give it power.

The ruling class can only remain in power if everyone else lets them and accepts their system.

The other day this guy actually teared up about illegal immigrants taking food out of American mouths etc. It was the most ridiculous spectacle. He parades around this "pro-American" faux populism and then turns around and displays such obvious contempt for anybody of a lower social status than he.

I would literally like to kill these two people.

Literally.

I have nothing else to say about this.

There's no point raging over Fox in the slightest. We all know, and our American comrades more so, of its agenda and its allegiances to the ruling class.

Fuck Fox News, and fuck our energy being channelled towards it in condemnation and outrage. We have a loyalty to the class and to the struggle, and we would be better placed in building up our forces and getting into communities to counter its smears. The channel wants us to take it seriously and wants us to focus on it rather than the working class, because this weakens our movement. Let's not cave into them.

All very true. However, generally speaking, I think it's important for the left to critique and identify how the ruling class uses the media and its other appendages to hinder revolution and blind the working class.

Well obviously Glen Beck is a moron. And did she say "pork and col-aid are going to fall from the sky"?

But the ridiculous commentary and coverage by Fox News has been thoroughly covered- just not made public. Here is a short video showing some of their racism: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=277gQDcBtMY

When is Fox not "at it"?
FYI, Glenn Beck is on CNN, usually.
I can't stand these bastards. I stopped watching at around the point where they said "culture of entitlement". Come on, even Glenn Beck must know that the thousands of layoffs aren't happening because people are lazy!

Oh my god, without any exaggeration, watching this almost made me puke. Poor should help themselves??
The guy working at the McDonalds actually made a strong point and they turn him into the laughing stock? There are NO OTHER JOBS !

Hope the "poor" were watching this, oh the US is so seeing a revolution coming, just let the mass media bring on this shit, people won't tolerate it forever.

Odd. Though Glenn Beck is FOX material (authoritarian fascist, anti-working class elitist, veiled in the 'compassionate conservative' disguise), I thought he was on CNN. Either way, 'socialist' is the new 'terrorist.' By neo-conservative thought, you must always have an enemy figure and with some of the American people opening their eyes (if just a tiny bit) to the realization that there is no terrorist threat, the ruling class must formulate something to be feared. Socialism is the new thing to be feared, even though it is the only means of liberation.

This is the sort of thing I expect from the organs of the ruling class. Selfishness like this is always incomprehensible for decent folk like comrades on this board.

Chapter 24

What's really odd about Glenn Beck (who is, surprisingly enough, probably the most vocal conservative pundit to speak out about Obama's "socialism") is that he doesn't just call Obama a socialist: he calls him a full-blown Marxist! (http://mediamatters.org/items/200808060009)
Of course in order to have a political opinion considered valid in the United States you don't have to have much credibility or knowledge on any issue. I mean as long as you're a supporter of the two-party system and an avid spokesman about how the U.S. is the da gratest ****ry dare ever wuz, you really don't have to know much. It's just weird how a term like "socialist" is used in this country by right-wingers and is accepted by much of the public, but few people as far as I'm aware of actually call Obama a Marxist. IDK, maybe it's just me, but as limited a view of the concept of class struggle the average American has, I think they understand that Marx did advocate such a thing while Obama is not.
But then, who knows? Maybe I'm putting too much faith in the American people when it comes to this. Just three days ago I was having a discussion with a self-declared "anticommunist" who believes that "Obamunism" is going to bring socialism to this country because he's going to nationalize institutions. Well we all know that if this was the case, countries such as Nazi Germany would be socialist. However, if we wish to educate people about socialism, we have to change their mindset over from one that thinks the "nationalization=socialism".

Of course he would say shit like this, "he worked hard to get where he is at" and he doesn't want the poor stealing his money.

What scares me is that people watch fox news.

I live in Canada, and I don't have cable or satellite so I rely on the internet to get most of my news anyway. However, Al-Jazeera is planning to broadcast over here.

But yeah, I love watching O'Reilly and getting my blood pressure up.

I think stuff neo-con pundit stuff should be used to stir up the revolutionaries during the revolution to re-affirm what to fight against

True, I find my communistic tendency reaffirmed every time I see one of these cappie pundits put on their anti-worker song and dance. In that way one could see them as useful... then again, watching an episode of "Cribs" will do that for me too.

Your right. He was formally on 'Headline News' but just started a new show on Fox. Needless to say, neither of his programs have much news on them.

I did the same thing, I couldnt watch it past that either out of disgust.

And I know im a little focused on banking and bad monetary policy being the primary ill here, but if we had an honest money system these people wouldnt be in such dire straits...

everybody should be able to keep 100% of the fruits of their labors.
