I wonder if there is any point in for example banning sweaters with the national flag, as some schools have done in Sweden?

no there isn't. I have an England shirt plus a pair of boxers with the St Georges cross on (the boxers were a joke), yet i am not some ultra nationalist nazi.

lots of schools here banned the wearing of nationalist flags at some point, didn't realy matter though because then lots of extreme right kids started wearing red, white an blue ballpoints in the arm pocket of their bomberjackets or litle clogs or lions on their keyrings

Personally, even though i find wearing national flags for the most part vulgarly jingo-ist and reactionary i would oppose any move to ban wearing them outright.

Besides which, displaying national flags is something even the left are guilty of.
