i understand most of the basic principles of maoism, marxism, stalinism etc etc but i am new to communism and i would like to know from someone.. why do you think communism can work? big question because Cuba has done very well in that respect but China disgraces itself with human rights issues and in my opinion that form of communism is the way forward so for you what is the way forward for communism that the international revolution?

Neither are communist.
Communism = stateless classless society which would be run though communes
Marxists think a state is needed which will turn into a communist society, Anarchists dont.

I have problems with both stalinism and maoism because of the peasant majority on which their societies had to be built. In my opinion neither Red October nor Mao's successful civil war, nor Cuba's guerilla war are the way forward.

+ anarchists and marxists have totally different ideas of what a state actually is.

How are you "new" to communism if you're familiar with Marx?

Excuse me? You want a bureaucratic, free-marketeering nation with a ruling party that labels itself "Communist?"
so for you what is the way forward for communism that the international revolution?
The lack of a ruling class/party that dictates what Communism is to the people is the first step.
+ anarchists and marxists have totally different ideas of what a state actually is.
Indeed.

i am new to communism as i am relatively young and just started reading Marx Lenin Stalin Mao so dont you class this as new?
also i think i rushed this thread... i left out a word i DONT think the chinese version of communism is the way forward. just to iron that out :)
i realise the difference between anarchists and communists.
im going to re-phrase the question....
Q: How is a communism going to work now that places like Russia are capitalist, China calls itself 'communist' and all the main world super powers are capitalist. So my question is... How can we fight this war against capitalism when it seems to already have been lost?

Russia's been capitalist for ages. Anyways, how has any war been lost? Hell, the capitalists had their revolutions put down too. That didn't make their battle lost, as we have seen.

Well, yes, within anarchism, the name tends to be reserved for a certain current, while others just refer to themselves as 'socialists' and such. However, I'm using the term 'communism' here as a synonym of 'socialism', rather than as describing the form that the classless society takes.
