Labour Affairs Minister Billy Kelleher said the minimum wage must not become a barrier to attracting jobs to Ireland.
The minister highlighted that the basic pay rate at 8.65 euro an hour was the second highest in Europe, and claimed changed economic circumstances would need to be factored into a review.
The Labour Court is presently examining submissions by trade unions and employers on the minimum wage before making a recommendation on any changes to Mr Kelleher."
