The argument that "Communism fell in 1989" is always presented to me when I tell people that I am a Marxist. However, in my opinion, Russia never established a true communist society, nor has any other nation for that matter. Russia was an imperialist nation (there is no denying this, but I'm sure I will get angry responses for stating it) whose leaders (post-Lenin) were generally corrupt, inneficient, or revisionists. Therefore, the policies of these leaders were in no way representative of true Marxism. Nowhere is a tyrannical government mentioned in The Communist Manifesto or any other work of Marx. A dictatorship is not inherently evil, but Russia's leaders were. Thoughts?

yep totally agree with you there, communism should comprise of the proletariat. The state and its politicians should be true representatives of those ideals which russian society and the working class should live up to in a classless society. Stalin used those ideals of his own empowerment self-gratifications... and so marx,lenin and engels.. should be given adulation and praise. The communist manifesto was not for personal power but it was for the proletariat - fidel castro has mentioned this in a youtube documentary named 'commandate' by Oliver Stone...
check it out comrades :cool::):thumbup1:
