Am I the only one on this site that likes JPOP (Japanese Pop Music) or what?

I like BeForU, Fripside, Kotoko, and alot of others. I tend to listen to the internet radio on animenfo.com. I also like some JRock. Nana Kitade ftw. :D

I generally don't like J-Pop, except for certain anime themetunes/soundtracks and songs from japanese films and stuff. the whole ultracommercialised and superficial side of Japan really doesnt appeal to me
Three of my favourite bands however are japanese- Balzac, the Stalin, Buck-Tick
I would check them out

Yeah, there is some excellent anime music.

agreed. there's alot of fluff. I avoid the J-Culture scene and just listen to the music. on the bright side though, it seems Japan's communist party is growing, so there might just be more media for leftists like us coming from the land of the rising sun

The Stalin?!?! Now I've heard everything.

I like foreign pop music in general... and foreign rap (German, Japanese, Romanian, Swedish, Spanish, French. Romanian rap & French electro-hip hop are the best). There's just something fun about having no idea what the lyrics mean and just enjoying how fun the music is.

The only foreign music I hear is usually in German, Italian, and mostly in Spanish.

I don't like jpop/jrock much (actually, I don't like at all). Although I do remember seeing posters for a female jrock band when I was in Tokyo (I think they were called Nakanomori BAND...)

Listen to Balzac, they are awesome. They express very well the feeling of alienation in a uniquely Japanese horrorpunk way

Gallhammer are interesting - all-female Japanese (I think) black/doom metal

But the closest thing to Jpop/Jrock that I listen to is Asobi Seksu - an American shoegaze/dream pop band.
