I am an Act Utilitarian Communist. I live in Texas, and people here hate "commies" like me. Therefor, I keep my mouth shut. I have asociated myself with such philosophies since I was 12, I gave up on them at age 14, and picked up communism again at 15 when I could fully understand it. Thats just about all I will say.

Good day to you comrades.

Utilitarianism is the idea that the moral worth of an action is determined solely by its contribution to overall utility: that is, its contribution to happiness or pleasure as summed among all persons.

Act utilitarianism is a utilitarian theory of ethics which states that the right action is the one which produces the greatest amount of happiness or pleasure for the greatest number of people. Act utilitarianism is opposed to rule utilitarianism, which states that the morally right action is the one that is in accordance with a moral rule whose general observance would create the most happiness.

Rule utilitarianism is a form of utilitarianism which states that moral actions are those which conform to the rules which lead to the greatest good, or that "the rightness or wrongness of a particular action is a function of the correctness of the rule of which it is an instance." For rule utilitarians, the correctness of a rule is determined by the amount of good it brings about when followed. In contrast, act utilitarians judge actions in terms of the goodness of their consequences without reference to rules of action.

In short, Utilitarianism is an ethics theory putting emphasis on overal happyness of all people. Act utilitarianism judges an action by its direct consequences whereas rule utilitarianism judges and action by whether or not it conforms to good laws and policies.
