Hi everyone, I just joined yesterday. I'm a relatively new Marxist from Australia, its been about a year that I have identified with calling myself as such. I joined the forum to learn more and be in contact with other Marxists. How I got into Marxism was from watching history channel programs on Mao, Che, the USSR and workers struggle etc, it interested me a great deal and I wanted to know more so I bought my first socialist book "the essential left" which I thoroughly enjoyed and it resulted in me buying a whole lot more books by Marx, Engels, Mao, Che, Stalin and Lenin. I'm still learning a lot about Socialism etc but eventually I'd like to get involved in Socialist action, not just Socialist thought. I'd like to somehow help the proletariat if I can. This site seems pretty damn cool, lots of info about lots of topics and I will eventually get around to reading a bunch of them.
I'm from a poor lower class family and I identify with the lower classes way more than middle to upper classes, I always have. I'm not religious at all, I just cant identify with it and it all seems to be nothing more than superstition to me that is used for profit and manipulation, although I feel all men and women should be free to believe what they choose, children shouldn't be subject to their parents religious beliefs, they should be given the opportunity to grow up un-brainwashed and decide for themselves at a suitable age.
Anyways, just thought I'd make myself known to the place, I'm also a member over at soviet-empire but that site doesn't seem to get as much traffic as this site so that's partly why I joined revleft.
:)
