'Alo! So, I don't get pruned, I'll intro myself. I try not to spend too much time on message boards these days, but I find this one intriguing.
I'm a socialist. So far, I think democratic socialism is the best political-economic strategy, but I know I need to learn more. 'Tis why I'm here. I'm fascinated that a board like this exists.
I'm in Indiana and I don't know of a leftist scene here, unless you count the UUs. I don't go to church, so that doesn't work for me. Plus, I'm no pacifist.
I guess I've always been this way. Growing up, I always thought people had it all wrong. I remember I liked certain aspects of communism, but it never sat well with me, on the whole. Two years ago, I went back to college, because I'd discovered that one could major in sociology. Since I study it for fun, I figured I'd finally found a way to graduate from college.
I was wrong, but returning to school did force me to finally read Marx. I have found that I almost instantly lose respect for anyone who disses the guy. I don't agree with all his conclusions, but he hit a lot right on the head, imo.
Okay, I'm rambling. Anyway, that's sorta-me. I don't have anyone I "follow", b/c I always disagree with something. I just love ideas, debate, and (r)evolution. And, I'd love to be more active with this. Gotta start somewhere.
