I stumbled upon this site as I was searching for a leftist board on google , so I decided to register. I am not a communist or anarchist. I would describe myself as a left wing liberal.
So why left wing? I support free health care and education for everybody and goverment control on corporations. Also wellfare. But on the liberal side I dont want goverment to tell people what they can do with their own bodys and lifes as long as they are not hurting anybody else. ( drug use , prostitution , being gay , religious etc.)
And I think the church and state should be separated and the chuch and other religious organizations should pay taxes. I am an atheist btw.

Hello.

I would not discount communism and anarchism, though. Have you an idea of what we're about? We're all for free health care, education, and social freedoms, and most of us are also atheist, so we can establish that common ground off the bat.

homophobia is hardly liberal you little shit, how does 'being gay' hurt anybody else, and why is it wrong.

Damn thats not what I ment! I just listed things that I DO approve not things that I dont. It doesnt hurt anyone nor is it wrong. However I dont support gay adoption , exept maybe inside the family.

Hello.

. Have you an idea of what we're about?

Pretty much so. I am planning to research more maybe reading the Communist Manifesto if I can find it in finnish in library. The thing with these two more or less utopian theories ( comm & anarch ) is that they have never worked in history.
Which is quite sad. :(

I think you completely misread that.

In any case, Welcome. :)

Thats not true, look at the spanish civil war (http://libcom.org/tags/spanish-civil-war).
The communist manifesto is probably not that useful to understand communism, it only applies to marxist communists and its not like a set of principles that all communist agree on or anything like that.

Again, I am asking that you try to keep an open mind. Ask yourself why communism and anarchism never worked (if they ever came about in the first place, and for the most part, they never have), and more importantly, you should ask us for our own input. Don't blindly call us utopians because that is how you've been raised to see the revolutionary left.

why not?

Well if the child wants to then its ok. But unfortunaly it may bring lots of social pressure and bullying to the child , because of homophobia and intolerance.
But this will most likely change in time.

I always have a nagging need to point out that the ten planks were called 'antiquated' by Marx a few decades later.

Yeah, it's basically a propaganda leaflet. Capital's better, though it's more an analysis of capitalism than anything else.

Alright, so, firstly, libertarianism is a type of socialism (aka. communism), not separate from it.

I support free health care and education for everybody
Oh, do you now? Or do you mean 'schooling'?

And I think the church and state should be separated and the chuch and other religious organizations should pay taxes. I am an atheist btw.
Do you believe in free will?

utopian theories
Utopian? Please justify that. The end of feudalism and establishment of voting and such used to be utopian.

Q: How many capitalists does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None.

For that matter, what is socialism?

Hm, maybe I should get a list of socialist literature for an introduction into it or something.

Welcome!
Its probably best to read about history before getting too involved in theory, in my oppinion. So yeah, I would read about Anarchism in Spain and maybe in the russian civil war, and also the chinese revolution is pretty cool.
