I like this band, even they look like an ambiguous message. One song: "The Hunt" is absolutely politically uncorrect. And leader Justin Sullivan is .... quacker in religion !!!.

The name NMA remember revolutionary Cromwell's army, but I understand he would be hateful for Irish people.

Well, but do you think about?

so they are anti-irish?

NO, I don't think so. I just was speaking about history of NMA and Cromwell. Curiosly Marx and Engels supported its historical role in English Bourgueois Revolution. Nevertheless, every bourgueois state has its sinisters purpouses.

But, probably, when this guys choose the name NMA did'nt know too much about its role in Ireland in 1600's

No way Justin Sullivan and his band(s) are anti-irish. He plays over here nearly every year with the New Model Army or with his accoustic groups and is well received. Judging from his lyrics his very liberal minded.

The real Cromwell and his New Model Army are a different story. They were Anti-Irish.

Thank you, Kit. Salutes to Irish leftists. I hope they would come back to Spain soon. I went to a live performance in early 90's and was very powerful.

Specially I like the LP "Thunder and Consolation"

sorry for bumping a fairly old thread, but I love new model army

tbh their songs support a lot of leftist views, anti capitalist, anti consumerist, love for the environment, although some of his songs do seem to hint towards disillusionment with the left

also worth pointing out that although Sullivan's was born into a quaker family he's opposed to organised religion, at least that's how it seems from his lyrics
