View Full Version : Do the differences matter that much?

I can skim through the wikipedia pages myself but I would be interested in hearing board members explain the major differences of these leftist philosophies. Should a Leninist and a Trotskyist be allies? (You can directly answer that question or not but just substitute any 2 radical leftist philosophies). Are anarcho-communists and anarcho-syndicalists similar enough to not fight over the differences?

Obviously there are some ideas like Stalinism that are isolated from the rest, but I wanted to know if people here thought most left philosophies are similar enough for leftists to work together without major divisions.

in my experience diffrent strands who lie close together can also work together without much hiccups (for example between the mentiont difrent strands of anarchists)
as the idealogical gap gets bigger, its also increasingly more diffucult to work together.
i as an autonomist can for example work on all fronts en indept with traditional anarchists, while with trotskyst i usaly can only work on special ocasions, for a short amount of time and around defind topics (anti-discrimination etc) while with traditional lenninst i most of the time can only manage to be at the same demonstration without wanting to strangle them.

I'm trying to remember the situation a little while back, in which I want to say it was the 3rd or 4th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. There were a multitude of groups trying to lead a demonstration against the occupation, and I distinctly remember confrontations between A.N.S.W.E.R. activists and a large amount of Anarchists attempting to organize it as well. I won't lie. We, in the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition are attempting to establish an organization of radical revolutionaries working towards working class emancipation. We consider ourselves to be an educational force and a community organizer with significant influence. Almost all the rallies we organize are large and successful. I implore you to observe pictures from the Day of Action in support of Palestine. The thousands of yellow signs? Provided and produced by A.N.S.W.E.R. We are very efficient, so I think you can see why we get slightly irritated when other organizations attempt to hijack the rally, which usually causes a split in the rally and often times it will cause a completely separate march to form at a completely separate place, which divides our numbers.

I'll probably get called a Stalinist or tyrranical for that, but I frankly do not care. We are efficient at community organizing and getting large groups standind beside us would increase the movement, instead of attempting to be divisive and separate it.

Well, that may have been irrelevant, but I think it shows how things rarely work out between revolutonary leftists. I can march with anyone, but I can't say I haven't had my fair share of confrontations with Anarchists and the like. Regardless, I can say everyone here who has imagined what society would be like with us in power, is much more intelligent than any of the capitalist swine in power and their supporters.

We can have common actions on some issues at times, but history teaches us that mixing the revolutionaries organizationally with reformist and centrist groups (i.e., groups that pose as socialist or Marxist but in effect seek to defend capitalism) leads to the defeat of the working class time and time again.

What such groups do you refer too?

Couldn't anti-capitalists work together until capitalism is fatally wounded and then squabble over the replacement?

one of my "closets comrades" which i can communicate pretty well in a lot of subjects is in fact a Marxist-Maoist!Yeah we have a lot of differentials in thinking but in our actions now, we are side by side! Most actions taken find us in agreement, what those actions will lead us is mainly the disagreement.;)

You can find a dissent amount of persons "mixing" both of them!I have no problem with syndicalists, but yeah i found the syndicalism way kinda "wrong" and not possible imo!
