Haha! I'm a huge Techno/Trance addict myself. Tiesto is one of my favorite DJs actually.

The best techno and trance is from the 90s, it has largely went to shite, Marcel Woods is decent, Marco V isn't too bad either.

But the 90s are the pinnacle, Orbital, FSOL, Leftfield, KLF, Utah Saints, The Prodigy....fuckin brilliant

The Vision, by Mario someone or other is my favourite trance song. It's mentalist.

Not a fan of trance but like techno, house and electro music. I do a but of DJing from time to time and play quite a bit of this type of music. Next time I do a mix I'll post a link on here for it

First, there's no such thing as "Trance Techno" as far I'm aware. It's just called Trance. Secondly, I love it.

You mean MC Mario?

No, Mario Piu.

The best techno and trance is from the 90s, it has largely went to shiteI'd say it was mostly quality stuff until 2002 or so. After that the whole genre just seemed to stagnate and the club scene went to shit (in Ireland at least). That said, I was big into my trance trousers in my day

Now that I'm getting back into dance I'm looking more at trip-hop and other less commercial angles

And you seriously think that shit's representative of hardcore?

That's like saying shit like Nickelback is representative of rock...

Come on its all pish these days, I dont mind the very early 90s stuff but every new compilation they bring out is crap and every event they throw attracts the same scummy wee clubland kids.

Check out stuff by the likes of Scott Brown, Cloudskipper and Kevin Energy. As far as I know they're still going strong and delivering the goods.

DJ Sammy can fuck off and die for all I care.

I dont mind Scott Brown, quite a bit of the stuff from Scotland was class back in the day, but they are a rare breed these days.

While DJ Sammy is awful, some remixes aren't that bad.

A few really cheesy songs are a guilty pleasure of mine, but none of them have anything to do with DJ Sammy.

Socialism needs democracy, like the body needs trance. :D

Trance is fucking great, I would really recommend Paul van Dyk's "Politics of Dancing". The second disc is actually a compilation of some fantastic songs.

Trance is the greatest. I really like other forms of EDM too though.
I used to dislike Tiesto because I didn't see what was so special about him until I see him live in Reno, NV. Probably one of the greatest nights in my (admittedly short) life.
While not Anti-Capitalist, raves do seem to carry some progressive political tones. But I suppose many things do in the Bay Area.

Hey I never said I dislike the music. I was at a rave for new year. But it's really just something to abandon yourself to.

But trance needs MD, and the body doesn't need MD. Therefore, the body doesn't need trance.

Trance needs Maryland? Trance needs Moldova? A Doctor of Medicine? A Managing Director?

dj paul van dyke (there are a few ways to spell his name) is my favorite dj. however, i like old school hardcore from the early 90's. happy hardcore is a fav, but the new stuff is a bit lame. since i am a punk, i really dont know much about electronic music. what is gabber and jungle? what other genres are there? some one help me out here!

i like the rave scene, in many respects it mirrors the punk scene. both scenes are kept together only through people respecting one another and the scenes need people who are able to be responcible and know how to have a good time.
